ABOUT ELM TREE STUDIOS

Elm Tree Studios sits next to what is currently KIPP Elementary and what used to be a historic property for the Diocese of Albany. As a part of the historic St. Patrick complex, consisting of four contiguous buildings, Elm Tree Studios will now serve as the home to 14 fully renovated, modern studio style apartments. Still recognizable as a part of the complex where it once served as a part of the school system during the mid-1900’s – when it was originally built. You can still find some of the original tile and terrazzo floors that have been preserved over the years. Our intention was to keep all original architecture on the exterior - and parts of what could be safely preserved on the inside – while simultaneously creating an energy efficient and living space for the North Central area of Troy.
 

Elm Tree Studios is a perfect addition to the neighborhood that will fit well into the existing community. The construction of the project is being completed by Shades Contracting, a local NYS MBE firm, whose business started just a few blocks away, right in the same North Central neighborhood. This project not only brings a new style of housing but also many opportunities for people directly within direct North Central area and adjacent parts of the Capital Region.

 

Why studio/efficiency apartments? The answer is fairly simple. Studios are great option for the demographic in the area who need are not in need of a larger unit with higher rents. Many people in the area are looking for a smaller, simpler space to live as they transition between different chapters in their life or just want to downsize. Either way, Elm Tree Studios provides a solution for the renter who’s in need of a smaller and more efficient space. It’s directly on the main bus line and should also have the conveniences of the shared bike services, which will make it even more efficient to get around the area.
